Edition38 – An event by dubbers, for dubbers

A few years ago we met one of the founder members of Edition38 and found ourselves on the guest list for our first E38.
For those of you don’t know or have never heard of it, Edition38 is one of the most prestigious VW events on the show calendar in Europe.

Edition38 was founded in 2000 and has grown from strength to strength ever since, becoming the highlight of the UK VW scene calendar for many.

E38 has grown from humble beginnings, starting 18 years ago with a group of friends setting up a small show for themselves and whoever wanted to attend.
These days it packs a huge show ground in Northampton with two massive camping fields. Fundamentally, it’s still the same show now as it was back then, just bigger, much, much bigger.
The organisers pride themselves on putting on an event by dubbers, for dubbers. They created the show they’d always wanted to go to themselves.

Traditionally it’s been a water cooled VW event, but in recent years there been a growing air cooled contingent and in our opinion, it’s better for it.

The event is a 3 day affair. Friday and Saturday are chilled out, enjoy yourself days and Sunday in the show and shine comp.
Competition is fierce with cars traveling from all over Europe to compete, and the bar seems to get higher every year.
MK1 golfs that are so clean you could eat your dinner off the underside. MK1 Sciroccos that look like they rolled off the production line 5 minutes ago, better even. Mk2 golf Rallyes with the deepest most luscious paint you’ve ever seen. G60’s, R32’s, you name it, there’s probably at least one at E38.
Unicorn cars are scattered all over the showground. Rare stuff you just don’t see any more.

When the sun starts to set the real fun starts. E38 lay on a big dance tent, full of pissed people all having a wicked time. It’s like a reunion of all best people you’ve known. All VW fans and all there to have a good time.
Things usually liven up in the campsite too as the sun sets.
There’s a security team on 24/7 to stop things getting really out of hand, but there’s plenty of fun to be had still. That’s all we’ll say about that. You can find out for yourself when you come.

If you’re after a time served, well run, high quality VW show, with a chilled out vibe and some of the most awesome VW’s you’re ever likely to see, E38 is definitely for you.
